Real Madrid vs Man City

Real Madrid’s midfielder isn’t satisfied with a draw against Manchester City

Federico Valverde saved the day for Real Madrid after striking a volley to prevent Manchester City from winning at Santiago Bernabeu. After the match, the Uruguayan said it would have been nicer if Los Blancos secured the three points in the first leg.

However, Valverde refused to play the blame game on anyone, admitting that everyone in the team had worked hard for the result against such a strong force like City. The 25-year-old also praised the fans for supporting Los Blancos relentlessly during the game.

“We would have liked to win it but it wasn’t to be,” Valverde told the media via the club’s official statement on the website. “We have to thank the fans because they were right behind us from the first minute. We’re all fighting for the same goal, we have another game and we’re going to go for it.

Real Madrid vs Man City: Keeping the best celebration for the last

Valverde’s goal was his second this season and the first one for the Champions League. The academy graduate said that he was happy with the goal but refused to overly celebrate it.

“It’s a great feeling, it’s so nice to feel the emotion of scoring a goal,” he added. ‘But it wasn’t the time to get carried away because we needed another one. There will be time to celebrate later.”

Madrid will continue their nearly-finished business in La Liga this weekend against Mallorca. Los Blancos are topping the table with 75 points, leading eight points to Barcelona in second place. Valverde and co have to at least gain another 16 points to secure the title this season.
