BREAKING: Roberto De Zerbi and Brighton to part ways after Manchester United game

Roberto De Zerbi will leave Brighton & Hove Albion after the Premier League clash against Manchester United on Sunday, May 19. The Italian manager replaced Graham Potter in September 2022.

He helped Brighton get a sixth-place Premier League finish in 2022-23. Brighton got their first taste of European football courtesy of that result. This season, The Seagulls are currently 10th with one game to go. Their final game of the season against Manchester United will also be De Zerbi’s last.

Speculations regarding De Zerbi’s future have already started. He was previously linked with the Manchester United and Liverpool jobs. Under current circumstances, De Zerbi could very well head to either Bayern Munich or Juventus.

Roberto De Zerbi issues statement on leaving Brighton

De Zerbi joined Brighton and shaped the club become a force to be reckoned with in English football. He continued the project very well that Graham Potter started. De Zerbi reacted to his imminent departure, saying (via Brighton’s website):

“I am very sad to be leaving Brighton, but I am very proud of what my players and staff have achieved with the support of everyone at the club and our amazing fans in the past two historical seasons. We have agreed to end my time at Brighton so that the club and I can continue to work in the way that suits each of us best, following our own ideas and visions, as well as our work and human values.”

De Zerbi has set high standards at Brighton. The Seagulls will need a capable manager to replace the Italian. Fans will keep a keen eye on whom they appoint.
