Ruben Amorim was linked to Liverpool

Ruben Amorim set to reject West Ham United and Liverpool

Ruben Amorim is out of the running to become the next Liverpool manager. The Portuguese has started talks with West Ham United and was in London on Monday to hold face-to-face meetings.

As per David Ornstein of The Atheltic, Amorim was interested in replacing David Moyes at the London Stadium. However, the move came after he was no longer in the running for the Anfield job.

Record have now reported that Amorim might be out of the running at West Ham United too. They claim that the talks on Monday were not positive and there are more chances of him staying at Sporting CP than moving to the Premier League

However, former Reds defender Abel Xavier spoke highly of the Portuguese manager and claimed that he was perfect for the Anfield job.

He added that the manager was destined to leave Sporting CP this season and said:

“I know him very well. We finished the UEFA coaching badges course together and Ruben really impressed me. He is very humble and has a clear mentality. He’s destined to leave Sporting and when you have three or four possibilities to join big clubs like this, his name will always be at one of the top clubs, that’s for sure. He’s under contract at Sporting and doesn’t want to get distracted by things that are going on elsewhere.”

Tottenham star Pedro Porro also spoke highly of the manager and claimed that he was a lot like Ange Postecoglou. The Spaniard played 98 matches under Amorim while he was at Sporting CP and said:

“He is young, has a lot of ambition, a little bit like Ange Postecoglou here at Tottenham. He always wants more and that’s what puts him on the world’s lips and coveted by so many teams in Europe. He has a special way of working, he plays eye to eye against any opponent, which is also similar to what we do at Tottenham, there are several similarities.”

West Ham United are looking to part ways with David Moyes are were plotting an ambitious move for Amorim. They have the likes of Julen Lopetegui, Paulo Fonseca, Thomas Tuchel and Marco Silva on their list should a move for the Liverpool target fall through.

As for Liverpool, Arne Slot is reported to be the front runner this summer.
