Saudi Arabian clubs reignite interest in Mohamed Salah with Liverpool exit on the cards

Mohamed Salah will be the main talking point in the months ahead with the Egyptian entering into the final year of his Liverpool contract. There has been little movement from the club regarding this matter and inevitably Salah has entered the wishlist of several clubs around the world. The Saudi Pro League looks to be the most likely destination for the next step in the 32-year-old’s career.

According to the Spanish outlet, Fichajes, Mohamed Salah and Liverpool are close to agreeing to a separation at the end of the current season. The Middle Eastern clubs have registered an interest in Salah’s services for quite some time now. With his contract renewal on hold at the moment, Saudi Arabia can start bracing itself for the arrival of one of the most effective players in the world.

The right-winger’s exit will be a bitter one for the coaching staff and supporters. Salah arrived at Anfield in 2017 and quickly became a fan-favourite. He has achieved numerous individual and collective accolades to his name, including a Premier League and Champions League title each as well as three Premier League Golden Boots. Arne Slot has come to rely on Salah’s services early on in his Liverpool tenure and will dearly hope for a prolonged stay for the Egyptian international.

Mohamed Salah’s comments on his contract situation

There were reports and uncertainties about Mohamed Salah’s future in England in the summer. The former Roma man ended up staying for his eighth season at Liverpool. Nonetheless, Salah has reiterated the fact that there has been no approach from the club to reach an agreement on a contract extension. “Nobody in the club has talked to me about contracts. It is not up to me, it is up to the club. It’s my last year in the club. I just want to enjoy it, I don’t want to think about it. I feel I’m free to play football and let’s see what’s going to happen next year.”

Saudi clubs will be delighted with the situation. They can legally approach the winger from January and will be attempting to convince him to end his stay at Anfield next year. Getting him on a free transfer will allow the interested parties to offer Mohamed Salah an unparalleled financial package. Al-Ittihad offered Liverpool €95 million for Salah’s services in 2023 with an annual salary of €77 million to the player. The club will once again be the front-runner in Salah’s case if he is not able to agree on an extension with Liverpool.
