Uruguay vs Panama Key highlights as Marcelo Bielsa’s team win 3-1 in Copa America clash

Uruguay managed a solid 3-1 win against Panama in their Copa America showdown at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Maximiliano Araujp (16′), Darwin Nunez (85′), and Matias Vina (90+1′) got on the scoresheet for Uruguay. Michael Murillo (90+4′) scored a late goal for Panama, which didn’t have any impact on the outcome of the game.

GOAL (16′): Maximiliano Araujo scored the opener for Uruguay after being set up by Matias Vina.

GOAL (85′): Darwin Nunez scored for Uruguay. The Liverpool striker caused problems throughout the course of the game before eventually finding the back of the net late in the match.

GOAL (90+4′): Panama did manage to pull one back after Uruguay created a clear distance at the end of the match. Defender Michael Amir Murillo pulled one back.

Maximiliano Araujo: Maximiliano Araujo bagged the Player of the Match award. He opened the scoring for Uruguay. It was an absolutely stunning goal from Araujo who looked lively throughout the match and was awarded deservingly.

Key moment:

Despite Araujo’s early goal, Uruguay kept searching for breathing space. They eventually got that when Darwin Nunez scored the second of the match in the 85th minute.


Uruguay had a hard-fought start. But their quality eventually prevailed in the latter stages of the game. Marcelo Bielsa has a talent-rich team at his disposal and Uruguay could eventually become one of the top contenders to win Copa America 2024.
