A tragic incident has occurred in Rohtak, Haryana, India, where a certain 16-year-old Hardik Rathi basketball player left for his heavenly abode after facing a freak incident while practising in a court nearby. Hardik was practising in a court in Lakhan Majra yesterday when this incident happened. The 16-year-old had completed his first manoeuvre and was preparing for the second one. He ran towards the pole from the three-point line, jumped and clutched the basket, but to his surprise, the pole fell flat on his chest as the teenager couldn't prevent himself from getting smashed by the heavy pole made of steel. His friends soon rushed to his help, but the damage was done. Hardik Rathi couldn't survive the pole's impact and was declared dead at the hospital. Hardik Rathi died due to the negligence of the authorities, who reportedly didn't take action despite repeated requests to repair the sports equipment and facilities in the area.

Hardik's neighbours revealed that the teenager was recently selected for the national team and had just returned from a training camp. His father, Sandeep Rathee, had enrolled him and his younger brother in a local sports complex where they could practice daily. A similar incident took place a few days back as 15-year-old Aman suffered the same fate in Haryana's Bahadurgarh district. The back-to-back deaths of two promising national-level players have brought the country to a standstill, where every individual mourns the death of teenagers who had such a bright future ahead.
