The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provides a pension scheme to help and support former cricketers, umpires, and officials who have played a role in Indian cricket. It helps in providing security to players who have already retired and have been part of Indian cricket at different levels.

It can be domestic cricket and also international cricket. The pension amounts depend on the number of matches that they have played and also the period for which they have been part of Indian cricket, and the level. The board has also increased pensions in recent years to help with more financial security and also acknowledge the part that these players and officials have played in the betterment of Indian cricket.

The pension scheme applies to former cricketers who fall under a particular criterion, such as playing a minimum number of first-class matches (25 or more) or Test matches before the 2003-04 season cutoff. Women cricketers who played international matches or retired before 2003 are also included.

BCCI Pension List | Amount Received by Famous Retired Cricketers:

Sunil Gavaskar:

He has been one of the greats of the game and has played 125 tests and scored 10,122 runs. Gavaskar receives a pension of INR 70,000 per month.

Sachin Tendulkar:

The God of Cricket has played 200 Tests and scored 15,921 runs. He also receives a pension of INR 70,000 per month.

Rahul Dravid:

The Wall played 164 tests and scored 13,288 runs. He also receives a pension of INR 70,000 per month.

MS Dhoni:

The former Indian captain is the only captain to win all ICC trophies and receives a monthly pension of INR 70,000 from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Vinod Kambli:

He has played 17 Tests, scored 1,082 runs, and is known for back-to-back double centuries. He receives a pension of INR 30,000 per month.

BCCI Pension Scheme:

The BCCI pension fund assists retired Indian cricketers and rewards players with five or more Test matches or substantial first-class experience. It was revised in 2022 and raised pensions substantially. Test players now get INR 60,000–70,000 per month (from INR 37,500–50,000), and first-class players receive INR 30,000. Greats such as Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and VVS Laxman get INR 70,000, keeping in view their long careers, while Vinod Kambli gets INR 30,000 as there are fewer Tests.
