The 2025 Caribbean Premier League delivered another thrilling chapter in the tournament's history. The tournament final was between the Trinbago Knight Riders and the Guyana Amazon Warriors. This season ran from August 14 to September 21, featuring six teams battling it out across venues in Antigua, Barbados, Guyana, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, and Trinidad.

Antigua & Barbuda Falcons were a new addition this season, but during the business end of the tournament, it was two familiar teams who have been there since the start. Shai Hope was the standout batsman, finishing as the top run-scorer with 491 runs for the Warriors, while veteran spinner Imran Tahir led the wicket charts with 23 scalps.

The Trinbago Knight Riders have stood out as the most successful franchise, winning five titles and consistently performing at the top level. In contrast, the Guyana Amazon Warriors have developed a reputation of being the finalists, having reached the final eight times, but frustratingly lifting the trophy just once, in 2023.

Other teams like the Jamaica Tallawahs, Tridents, and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots have also had their moments in the spotlight, while St Lucia got rebranded from the Zouks to the Kings.

The 2025 Caribbean Premier League came to a thrilling conclusion with the Trinbago Knight Riders reclaiming glory and lifting their 5th CPL title after edging past the Guyana Amazon Warriors in a tense final held at the Providence Stadium. Guyana were batting first and struggled to gain momentum on a slow surface and were restricted to just 130 for 8 in their 20 overs.

TKR’s bowlers, led by Saurabh Netravalkar (3/25) and Akeal Hosein, kept the pressure tight throughout. Despite a few stumbles in their chase, including the quick dismissals of Andre Russell and Kieron Pollard, Trinbago managed to cross the finish line. This win was especially significant as it ended a five-year title drought for the Knight Riders and marked their first CPL final win outside of Trinidad.

The very first edition of the Caribbean Premier League in 2013 ended with the Jamaica Tallawahs lifting the trophy after a commanding win over the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. Under the leadership of Chris Gayle, the Tallawahs put together an impressive performance when it mattered most.

Vernon Philander played a key role in the final and was named Man of the Match. Over the course of the tournament, Krishmar Santokie stood out as one of the most effective bowlers, earning the Player of the Tournament award.

12. Barbados Tridents | 2014

In the 2014 Caribbean Premier League final, the Barbados Tridents claimed their first-ever title by beating the Guyana Amazon Warriors. Under the leadership of Kieron Pollard, the team put on a strong performance at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts.

Shoaib Malik played an impressive knock, scoring an unbeaten 55 runs off 42 balls, which earned him the Man of the Match award. Lendl Simmons was the standout player, smashing 446 runs and earning the Player of the Tournament honour.

11. Trinbago Knight Riders | 2015

In the 2015 Caribbean Premier League final, the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel won their first-ever title by defeating the Barbados Tridents at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain. TKR was led by captain Dwayne Bravo. The Red Steel posted a strong total thanks to a match-winning 60 runs off 46 balls from Kamran Akmal, who earned the Man of the Match award.

Despite a solid chase led by Dwayne Smith’s 49, the Tridents fell short. Dwayne Bravo’s all-round performance throughout the tournament, which included 28 wickets and 173 runs, earned him the Player of the Tournament award.

10. Jamaica Tallawahs | 2016

The 2017 Caribbean Premier League final was a thrilling contest held at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad, where the Trinbago Knight Riders clinched their second CPL title. Led by captain Dwayne Bravo, TKR held their nerve in a low-scoring final to defeat St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.

Kevon Cooper emerged as the standout performer, earning the Man of the Match award for his all-round heroics, scoring an unbeaten 29 off just 14 balls and taking 2 wickets for 12 runs, which turned the game in TKR’s favour. Chadwick Walton was named Player of the Tournament, finishing as the leading run-scorer with 458 runs throughout the season.

8. Trinbago Knight Riders | 2018

The 2018 Caribbean Premier League final saw the Trinbago Knight Riders successfully defend their title by defeating the Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. Under the leadership of Dwayne Bravo, TKR delivered a strong all-round performance to clinch their third CPL championship.

Khary Pierre played a pivotal role in the CPL 2018 final, delivering a brilliant spell that saw him claim 3 wickets for just 29 runs, turning the game firmly in Trinbago Knight Riders' favour and rightly earning him the Man of the Match award. Meanwhile, New Zealand opener Colin Munro dominated the tournament with the bat, scoring a remarkable 567 runs.

7. Barbados Tridents | 2019

The 2019 Caribbean Premier League final witnessed a remarkable performance from the Barbados Tridents, who defeated the previously unbeaten Guyana Amazon Warriors to clinch their second CPL title. Under the captaincy of Jason Holder, the Tridents delivered an impressive performance at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.

Dominic Drakes was the star of the night, scoring an unbeaten 48 runs off just 24 balls and also picking up a wicket, which earned him the Man of the Match award. Roston Chase stood out across the tournament with both bat and ball, scoring 446 runs and taking 10 wickets, which helped him win the Player of the Tournament award.

4. Jamaica Tallawahs | 2022

In 2022, the Jamaica Tallawahs won the Caribbean Premier League by beating the Barbados Royals at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The team was led by captain Rovman Powell. Fabian Allen was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance in the final game as he took 3 wickets at an impressive economy of just 6 runs per over.

Brandon King was recognised as the Player of the Tournament for his 496 runs in 12 games, the most by anyone in the tournament that year, at a strike rate of 149, including an unbeaten 132 against Barbados Tridents, then the highest individual score in the CPL.

3. Guyana Amazon Warriors | 2023

In the 2023 CPL final, the Guyana Amazon Warriors triumphed over the Trinbago Knight Riders by 9 wickets at Providence Stadium in Guyana, chasing down the target of 95 with 36 balls to spare.

Imran Tahir led the Warriors as captain, and Dwaine Pretorius was named Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance, taking 4 wickets for 26 runs. Shai Hope was awarded Player of the Tournament for his contribution, smashing 481 runs during the season.

2. St Lucia Kings | 2024

The 2024 CPL season ended with Saint Lucia Kings lifting their first-ever title after overcoming Guyana Amazon Warriors by six wickets in the final at Providence Stadium, Guyana.

Faf du Plessis guided the Kings throughout their successful campaign, while Roston Chase produced a match-winning all-round display in the final, scoring an unbeaten 39 and taking one wicket. Noor Ahmad emerged as the tournament’s standout performer, finishing with 22 wickets and earning the Player of the Tournament award.
