After a long red-ball season, the fans will witness some much-awaited white-ball action in September. Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi has announced that the Asia Cup 2025 match dates are from September 9 to 28 and will be played in a hybrid model. It has also been confirmed that the tournament will be played in the T20 format, in order to prepare for the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup in 2026. The official Asia Cup 2025 venue is the UAE, despite India being the hosts initially.

ACC Announce Venue for Asia Cup 2025
The United Arab Emirates was assigned the duty of being the official Asia Cup 2025 venue after ACC’s meeting in Dhaka on July 24. A total of eight teams will participate in the tournament. Their names include India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Hong Kong, and Oman. Suryakumar Yadav and company will be the favourites to win this tournament. A Salman Ali Agha-led Pakistan side, however, could emerge as the dark horses of the event.
A total of 19 matches will be played in the tournament, with India and Pakistan to be placed in the same group. If that happens, fans could witness these arch-rivals go against each other three times. One in the group stage, another one in the Super-Four, and potentially a third in the final.
India are the official hosts of the tournament; however, after an agreement between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), tournaments that will take place in India and Pakistan will have a neutral venue for the other side. The agreement has been made for three years. Earlier this year, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was also held in a hybrid model as Pakistan were the official host of the tournament. Due to India’s participation, Dubai was made the other venue for the tournament. Despite being the host of the tournament, Pakistan had to travel to the UAE to play against India. The conditions between the two neighbouring countries are affected by recent happenings, and the Pahalgam attack in India made the conditions worse. Following that incident, India had untied all kinds of relationships with Pakistan, even banning a lot of social media accounts of many Pakistani celebrities, including some cricketers as well, such as Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar, and others.
India's Disastrous Performance in Test Cricket Continues
India won the Champions Trophy 2025 under the coaching of Gautam Gambhir, and they'd like to do the same in the Asia Cup as well. The coach, however, has not been very effective in the Test format as the red-ball cricket horror continues for Team India. They are currently trailing in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar series 1-2. The English players have been terrific in the series, scoring centuries and taking fifers. There are some prominent players like Ben Stokes, Joe Root, Ben Duckett, and Zak Crawley who have helped England in the series.
The Men in Blue did win the 2nd match by a huge margin of 336 runs, but the rest of the games have been quite close. In the first match, England chased down 373 runs on the last day, thanks to Ben Duckett’s 149 runs. In the third match, India were chasing 192 runs but failed to do so due to the batting failure.
Unlike the other three matches, the ongoing fourth Test match has exposed India’s batting and bowling to the cricket world. England scored 669 runs in the first innings, and the credit goes to Joe Root for scoring a magnificent 150 runs. He also became the second-highest run scorer in Test history. This Test match is tilting towards England because the Indian batters are struggling to play the pacers. It will be interesting to see if the Men in Blue can make a comeback and win the match
