Pakistan T20I Tri-Series: Babar Azam Secures Shameful Record against Zimbabwe

The first match of the T20I Tri-series 2025 was played between Pakistan and Zimbabwe with the hosts winning by five wickets. The home team started on a good note as they secured first points on the board in this series. While chasing 148 runs, Fakhar Zaman and Usman Khan's partnership became the main reason behind the victory as the match went on to the last over.

Despite the win, it wasn't a great game Pakistan's star batter Babar Azam, who was dismissed without scoring a run. Babar, who is regarded as one of the best T20 batsmen of all time, came in to bat at No. 3, but was unable to trouble the scoreboard.

Babar Azam Duck Record: Unwanted Milestone for Pakistan Star

In the opening match of the Tri-series, Babar Azam was dismissed on a duck after facing just three balls. He went past Shahid Afridi and now has the record of most ducks in T20I cricket as a Pakistani batter. The disappointment was visible on his face as we went back to the pavilion. This was Babar's ninth duck in T20I career.

The Babar Azam 0 run record is quite embarrassing for a batsman of his caliber. He has been one of the most consistent T20 batters of all time. However, he will look forward to get back amongst the runs in the remaining matches of this series. Babar is still one of the most celebrated cricketers in the world and has amassed thousands of runs in international cricket. Hence, he is likely to play a key role in the upcoming T20 World Cup to be played next year in India and Sri Lanka.

Pakistan Beat Zimbabwe By Five Wickets

The PAK vs ZIM T20 match went into the 19th over, raising the heartbeat of the fans present on the ground as well as watching worldwide. When Zimbabwe came to bat first, it didn't look like they'll stop at just 147 runs as Brian Bennett (49) and Tadiwanashe Marumani (30) gave a solid start to the innings.

Their dismissals somewhat turned the game in Pakistan's favor as wickets kept falling since then. The middle order collapsed as they failed to add much to the total. Pakistan's Mohammad Nawaz claimed two wickets while the rest of the bowlers took one wicket each. Nawaz also contributed 21 runs off 12 balls, including two boundaries and one six. He scored the winning runs by smashing a boundary and showed why he is regarded as one of the best all-rounders in the world. For an all-round performance, Mohammad Nawaz received the Player of the Match award. The next match of the series will be played between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe on November 20.
