BCB D3 Trophy 2026: Teams, Format, Schedule & Icon Players Revealed

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has introduced a new domestic competition, the D3 Trophy, as part of a major revamp of the country’s domestic cricket structure. The new tournament will bring T20, 50-over and four-day cricket together under one competition, with six teams set to compete across the different formats during the 2026-27 season.

The D3 Trophy 2026 is set to introduce a franchise-based model to Bangladesh’s domestic cricket, with six corporate-backed teams receiving ownership rights for three years. The new competition will take the place of the NCL T20 and the Bangladesh Cricket League’s four-day and one-day tournaments, while the traditional four-day National Cricket League (NCL) will continue separately.

The BCB has also announced the D3 Trophy teams and icon players, with six established Bangladesh cricketers attached to the respective franchises. The tournament will feature 42 matches in total, comprising seven four-day games, 16 one-day matches and 19 T20 fixtures. The new structure is expected to provide players with opportunities to compete in multiple formats throughout the domestic season.

The D3 Trophy schedule is set to begin with the T20 competition on December 15, 2026. The opening matches are planned to be played at the renovated Jibanananda Das Cricket Stadium, which is among the smallest cricket stadiums. The four-day phase is scheduled for January 2027, while the D3 Trophy 50-over competition is expected to take place in May 2027. The six D3 Trophy teams and their icon players are:

The D3 Trophy 2026 will use the same six teams across T20, 50-over and four-day cricket, creating a single domestic structure covering all three formats. The player draft is scheduled for October 26, with each franchise allowed to build a squad of up to 23 players. The franchises are also expected to appoint their coaching and support staff as part of the preparations for the inaugural season.

The D3 Trophy 2026-27 is therefore set to become an important addition to Bangladesh's domestic cricket calendar, with the competition running across several months and formats. The BCB's new model is designed to give domestic players more regular opportunities while also creating a franchise-based identity.
