Bhutan Tour of Nepal 2026 Schedule, Venue, Date & Timings

In a historic move, Bhutan's cricket team will play four friendly practice matches at Nepal's Pokhara International Cricket Stadium. The matches will be held for World Tourism Day. One of the main reasons Bhutan is playing in Pokhara is to prepare for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Sub-regional Qualifier A.

This is an important move, as it can also bring Nepal some joy after the devastating floods earlier this month, and it will help boost sports tourism and establish the nation as a sports destination. The practice matches are set to begin on 27th September, World Tourism Day.

Bhutan Tour of Nepal 2026

Bhutan will play two matches each against the local Gandaki Province team and a selected CAN XI team, starting on 27th September 2026. The last match of this tour will be played on 1st October. All the matches will be played at Pokhara, which has one of the most beautiful cricket stadiums in the world.

Why Did Bhutan Choose to Tour Nepal?

According to Sanjay Kanta Sigdel, President of the Gandaki Provincial Cricket Association, Bhutan chose Pokhara because they wanted to prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers, which begin on 3rd October 2026. He also said the arrival of Bhutan Cricket Team in Nepal will improve relations between the two nations, help Pokhara build better sports infrastructure, and increase sports tourism in the area.

According to Suman Raj Karki, secretary of the Gandaki Provincial Cricket Association, they dream of making Pokhara a hub for national and international cricket activities. This move by Bhutan is the first step in that direction. Nepal has been one of the most improved cricketing nations and will provide a perfect platform for the Bhutan cricket team.
