Nepal Cricket Team's Unfair Behaviour Forces CAN To Apologize

An unforgettable incident took place during the Nepal Women vs Bhutan Women match at Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar Cricket Oval, Mantin, Malaysia. This was the 12th match of the ACC Women's T20I Premier Cup 2026.

During the BHU-W vs NEP-W match, Nepal Women's team received heavy criticism for the timed out dismissal of their rival batter from Bhutan. After this dismissal, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) was forced to apologize on their team's behalf.

What Is Nepal Time Out Incident Against Bhutan?

The incident happened after the first ball of the second innings was bowled. Nepal pacer Kabita Kunwar picked up the wicket off the first ball which forced Ritshi Choden to walk out to bat early.

However, Ritshi was dealt with a huge blow when she walked out. She got late to be ready to face her first ball, prompting the Nepali fielders to appeal for the wicket. The batter needs to be ready within two minutes of the previous wicket or retired out dismissla in ODIs and T20Is.

It is not the best way to dismiss any batter but is certainly withing the laws of the game. Hence, the batter was finally given out in an unfortunate manner which raised questions about Spirit of Cricket.

CAN Apologizes For Nepal Cricket Team's Behaviour

After this incident, the CAN apologized and accepted that it was against spirit of the game. They released a statement through the board president Paras Khadka, one of the richest cricketers in Nepal and apologized to Bhutan Cricket.

It is not the best time for the Nepal women cricket team, who recently failed to qualify for the Asian Games 2026 after losing to China in the qualifiers. They had received some heavy criticism after this unexpected defeat.
