Former Australia cricketer David Warner's troubles do not seem to end as the court has announced a punishment for drink and drive case. The incident took place in April 5 this year Warner, one of the best openers in the world, was caught in a breath test on Easter.

The 39-year-old David Warner has been convicted of a mid-range drink and drive case by a Sydney court. He has been fined AUD 1,500 and also needs to have an interlock device fitted to his vehicle. Warner needs to follow these rules before he becomes eligible to drive again.

David Warner drink and drive case didn't just involve his breath test. The former Test opener also tried to switch seats with a female passenger in order to escape the punishment.

However, the police later found out that he was the one driving the car. His breathing was later tested and it was found that Warner had breached the legal alcohol limit twice, leading to the filing of a case against him.

He Should Not Be Convicted - David Warner's Lawyer

Warner's lawyer Awais Ahmed is not happy with the incident's media coverage as it has harmed his global reputation already. While arguing to the Waverley Local Court, Ahmed said that his client shouldn't be convicted due to this reason.

According to him, David Warner drink and drive controversy has made a major impact on the cricketer's commercial opportunities abroad, where he is supposed to participate in some of the richest cricket leagues in the world.
