He had an excellent IPL season and emerged as one of the best bowlers in Indian Premier League this season. However, the reason behind him being in the headlines is his fight with Nitish Rana. Both the star players got into serious altercation with each other during an important match of Delhi Premier League 2025.

Nitish Rana Fight with Digvesh Rathi - What Happened in DPL 2025?

During the ongoing clash between West Delhi Lions and South Delhi Superstarz in the DPL 2025, Digvesh Rathi and Nitish Rana engaged in a heated conversation. Playing for the Lions, Rana mocked Rathi and said a few words to him. From there on, the verbal argument increased between the two of them.

However, the teammates and the umpires stopped them midway. Both are high-profile players for their respective teams but lost their temper in this important match. Rana, who is one of the best batsmen in India, looked in a different mood and played a captain's knock, smashing 15 sixes in this game. On the other hand, Digvesh bowled just two overs in the match, giving away 39 runs.

Digvesh Rathi, Nitish Rana Fined

After the clash, Digvesh Rathi and Nitish Rana, along with other players Krish Yadav, Sumit Mathur, and Aman Bharti, were fined for their behaviour in the DPL 2025 match. While Rana is fined just 50% for “using a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting”, Rathi was fined 80% of his match fee due to "contrary to the spirit of the game". Despite Rana being the more aggressive one during the fight, Rathi was charged more. The officials haven't given any official statements on this incident yet.

Moreover, Krish Yadav was fined his entire match fee for the use of audible obscenity following an abuse from the opposing team player and pointing the bat towards the player, while Sumit Mathur was fined 50% of his match fee for using language, actions, or gestures that disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player. Apart from them, even Aman Bharti was fined 30% of his match fee for the use of audible obscenity.

West Delhi Lions Reach Qualifier 2

In the Eliminator of the DPL 2025, West Delhi Lions won the toss and elected to bowl first. Their decision turned into disappointment when the openers slammed 67 runs in 7.1 overs. Ankur Kaushik and Anmol Sharma gave a good start to the match. However, offspinner Hrithik Shokeen dismissed Kaushik, and after that, two wickets fell quickly.

Kunwar Bhiduri and Anmol were dismissed on 6 and 55 runs, respectively. Then came in East Delhi Superstarz captain Tejasvi Dahiya, who scored 60 off 33 balls, including two boundaries and six sixes. He formed a 104-run partnership with Sumit Mathur (48) to help the Superstarz score 201 runs in the first innings. For the Lions, Shokeen claimed two wickets and was the star bowler as he dismissed the top order batters and gave the much-needed breakthrough.
When the Lions came to bat, they lost Ankit Kumar in the 6th ball of the match. The pressure started to build up on the players who were next in the line-up. Then, two overs later, Ayush Doseja was dismissed by Sumit Kumar Beniwal on five runs. In 2.4 overs, the Lions were 21-1. However, Nitish Rana slammed an unbeaten 134 runs off 55 balls, including eight boundaries and 15 sixes. He played at a strike rate of 243.64. The Lions chased down the mammoth total in just 17 overs, thanks to Rana's terrific performance.
