According to the reports, a powerful earthquake of 4.7 hit parts of India and Bangladesh. Cricket Ireland took to social media to provide updates about the game. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department also put out a statement regarding the earthquake on its website.

“Goodness. Play has stopped here due to a minor tremor/earthquake,” Cricket Ireland wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The instances of earthquake in cricket are not so common. Before this incident, an Under-19 match between Zimbabwe and Ireland was also stopped briefly due to earthquake in the year 2022. Fortunately, no one was harmed during this game as well.

Bangladesh on Top

Coming to the match, Bangladesh are on top with some impressive performances with both bat and ball. The home team batted first and scored 476 runs on the back of centuries from Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das. Rahim, who is one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen in the world, joined the list of greats to score a century in his 100th Test match.

In reply, Ireland are struggling and are trailing by more than 200 runs having already lost eight wickets. Ireland are trailing the series 0-1 as they lost the first Test by an innings margin. As a result, they are already on the back foot. The spin-friendly conditions in Bangladesh are something new for the Irish players and the home team has used this advantage well.
