The Afghanistan cricket team is currently on tour in India, where they have played a one-off test and are all set to feature in 3-match ODI series. Ahead of the ODI series, there were a couple of Indian players, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya, who were supposed to get their fitness test clear and get a green signal to feature in the ODI series.

Both players were supposed to visit the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) before the series and get a clear way to play. According to reports, on June 9, 2026, both Rohit and Hardik were cleared for their fitness for the series. However, the news came in that we could see Hardik Pandya ruled out, even after getting clearance from the BCCI COE. Let's find out the truth behind this.

Fact Check: No Hardik Pandya in AFG ODI Series?

As per the Hardik Pandya Injury Update, he was given a green signal by the BCCI COE to feature in the Afghanistan ODI series, which is all set to begin from June 13, 2026, in Dharamshala. However, the next day after getting a clear way, he got a leg sprain, which has forced the best all-rounder in India, yet again, to miss the ODI series.

According to the report, the Indian squad will see Hardik Pandya ruled out of the ODI series. This marks another omission of Hardik from India's squad in the 50-over format. This injury would give a solid chance to another Indian all-rounder, Nitish Kumar Reddy, to come up and prove his worth with both bat and ball ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2027.

The last time Hardik Pandya played an ODI for the Indian Cricket Team was more than a year ago. The last ODI for Pandya came in the final match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on 9th March, and since then, Hardik has missed every ODI game for India. Pandya had a decent match in his last ODI match, where he scored a run-a-ball cameo of 18 runs in 18 balls, which includes 1 six and 1 four.
