G Kamalini Ruled Out, MI Bring in India's Latest Bowling Sensation

Mumbai Indians (MI) women have been dealt with a massive blow amidst the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026. Wicket-keeper batter G Kamalini has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament with an injury, which she picked up ahead of the game against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday, January 20.

Although the nature of G Kamalini injury is yet to be known, her absence will leave a massive void in MI’s lineup as the franchise will be without their first-choice keeper and opening batter for the remainder of the league. The left-handed batter has all the credentials to become one of the best women's wicketkeepers in future.

Kamalini featured for five games in the WPL 2026, but couldn’t make any big impact. With her getting ruled out, it will be a great opportunity for Rahlia Firdous to make an impact as she is the only designated keeper left in the side.

Mumbai Indians Replace Injured G Kamalini with Vaishnavi Sharma

The Mumbai Indians Women were quick to name G Kamalini replacement for this season of Women's Premier League. The two-time champions added Vaishnavi Sharma to the squad, bolstering their spin department for the rest of the league.

Vaishnavi, 20, has been one of the best youngsters in Indian women’s cricket. However, she went unsold in the WPL 2026 auction and that caught many by surprise. Despite the kind of talent she brings, it was only a matter of time for her to find a franchise.

The left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma made her international debut in the recent T20I series against Sri Lanka and impressed many with her bowling performances, picking five wickets and helping India win the series by a margin of 5-0.

What is Vaishnavi Sharma's WPL Price?

Mumbai Indians' bowling attack hasn't been the best so far midway through the WPL. However, Vaishnavi's inclusion in the squad can strengthen the team, due to her ability to bowl well in the middle overs. Vaishnavi Sharma WPL price is INR 30 lakhs, which is less than that of G Kamalini.

“Mumbai Indians picked Vaishnavi Sharma as a replacement for G Kamalini for the remainder of the Tata Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026. Vaishnavi Sharma will join MI for INR 30 Lakh. The left-arm spinner, who was a member of India’s triumphant ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup squad of 2025, has played 5 T20Is for India, scalping 5 wickets from the same,” the league said in a statement.

Vaishnavi Sharma has had a terrific start to her career in the T20 format. She was the leading wicket-taker in the senior women’s T20 tournament, where she claimed 21 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 6.47. Due to these performances, she was picked for India's squad for the series against Sri Lanka.
