Indonesia's Gede Pariandana Takes Five Wickets in an Over
Batting first, Indonesia scored 167 runs, thanks to Dharma Kesuma, who played a magnificent knock of 110 runs off just 68 balls, featuring eight fours and six sixes. Apart from him, no other batters could contribute much to the scoreboard. However, no one imagined what was supposed to come during Cambodia's chase.
Cambodia's innings started horribly as they lost their first two wickets on just two runs, with Marcelle Hanekom and Muhammad Naeem registering the golden ducks. However, Shah Abrar Hussain and skipper Luqman Butt steadied the ship and stitched a 79-run stand for the third wicket.
Cambodia were 106/5 at the 15th over and needed around 60 runs in the next five overs. Then came Gede Priandana, bowling his first over of the match. He started off by dismissing the set batter Shah Abrar Hussain, then dismissed Nirmaljit Singh in the very next delivery.
He then completed his hat-trick by sending the new batter, Chanthoeun Rathanak, in the third ball of the over. After a dot ball, Priandana picked up his fourth wicket in the fifth ball of the over. He then finished the over with his fifth wicket, dismissing Pel Vannak in the last ball and also helping his team win the match by 60 runs in the Indonesia vs Cambodia cricket match.
Gede Priandana five wickets record is a unique milestone in cricket. With this record, he etched his name among the best bowlers in the world. He has the ability to achieve great things in future.
Gede Priandana Achieves Unique Feat
Gede Priandana became the first bowler to take five wickets in a single over. But what if we tell you that Gede Priandana record has been achieved before but in domestic cricket. During the 2013-14 season of Bangladesh's Victory Day Cup, when Al-Amin Hossain, representing UCB-BCB XI, picked up five in an over against Abahani Limited’s batting.
A few years later, India's Abhimanyu Mithun did the same thing during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019-20 against Haryana. However, there have been 14 instances when the bowler took four wickets in a single over in international cricket but no one has achieved what Priandana has achieved today.
