Former Australia fast bowler Glenn McGrath has been removed from the ABC commentary panel for The Ashes series 2025-26. The news has come has a massive blow for the fans waiting for this spectacular series to begin.

McGrath is regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in the world. Ever since his retirement, he has been involved in various activities related to cricket, whether it's coaching or commentary. His role in the commentary panel for the upcoming Ashes series was highly anticipated as well.

Glenn McGrath Removed from The Ashes Commentary Panel

McGrath has been removed from the commentary panel because of his partnership with a renowned betting agency. He had been in the list of the ABC for the upcoming Ashes series between Australia and England. His removal from the panel shows the strictness of the broadcaster for having links with betting agencies.
The ABC put out a statement confirming that McGrath and the broadcaster had mutually parted ways after this incident.
“The ABC and Glenn McGrath have mutually parted ways for this Ashes. We look forward to seeing Glenn around the grounds throughout the series and would welcome working with him in the future. Our great commentary team, led by Jim Maxwell and Corbin Middlemas, is excited for the first test in Perth this Friday.”

Not the First Time for an Australian Cricketer

It is not the first time that an Australian player has to be removed from the commentary duties because of being involved with the betting agencies. Earlier, Mitchell Johnson had to part ways with the ABC in 2022 because of the same reason.
