How Much Prize Money Will Indian Cricket Team Receive for Asian Games Gold?

India's gold-medal-winning cricketers are eligible for a cash award under the central government's medal-winning scheme. Under the current government framework, an individual Asian Games gold medallist is entitled to ₹30 lakh as the base cash award. Since cricket is a team sport, the government uses a separate formula to calculate the reward for the entire team.

For team events involving more than 10 members, the government’s reward structure provides five times the individual gold-medal amount. With the individual gold medal award set at ₹30 lakh, the calculation comes to ₹1.5 crore for the team. However, the previous Asian Games provided a different amount for Indian cricket. Following the women's team's gold-medal victory in 2023, the government had awarded ₹2.25 crore to the squad.

Based on this, Asian Games cricket gold medal prize could be ₹2.25 crore, taking the potential combined amount to ₹4.5 crore. The final figure, however, will depend on the government's official announcement. The government prize money for Asian Games gold medal will be separate from any bonus that may be announced by the BCCI. At present, there is no confirmed announcement of a separate BCCI cash reward.
