India vs Bangladesh Series Cancelled: Know the Reason

India was supposed to host Bangladesh in December as the series was part of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Future where some of the best women cricketers would have been taken part. However, due to the political tensions between the two nations, the series could be postponed.
IND vs BAN Cancelled Due to Political Reasons
A source close to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated that the series has not received the clearance and will be postponed. Speaking to Hindustan Times, the source said: "The series hasn’t received the clearance.”
The full schedule of the India vs Bangladesh series was yet to be announced by the BCCI, as they were always clouds looming over it. On Monday, the Bangladesh tribunal court sentenced to death the country’s former prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, adding more fuel to the fire of the tensions between the nations.
This was expected to happen as India's Men’s tour to Bangladesh was cancelled earlier this year due to the political tensions. Speaking about the same at that time, BCCI had said: “International cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams” as the reason behind the postponement.
BCCI To Make Alternate Arrangements After IND vs BAN Cancelled
The reports also claimed that the BCCI is now looking forward to making alternate arrangements for a home series after the Bangladesh tour of India was cancelled. The governing body is looking for a window around the third week of December. There is no clarity which team will arrive in India, but it is expected to be a short series as the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is around the corner. This will be the first time since winning the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 that, Women in Blue will be seen in action.
After the WPL concludes, the Indian women’s team will tour Australia for an all-format tour. Then in May, India will go to England for three T20Is and a one-off Test. Then it will be time for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, where the best women's cricket teams in the world will compete.
