The Indian cricket team (both men and women) met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 15, 2026. The meeting was scheduled on the back of the team's fantastic run in the Asian Games 2026 campaign when they won the gold medal in both categories.

The Indian men and women's cricket teams met PM Modi at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi. It was a proud moment for both the cricket teams, who came all the way from their respective assignments in different cities of India.

Indian Cricket Team Gift to PM Narendra Modi After Asian Games Gold

The India women's cricket team gifted a signed jersey from the gold medal-winning team to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Harmanpreet Kaur, India's captain at the Asian Games 2026 campaign, presented the gift alongside Smriti Mandhana.

Harmanpreet led India to the gold medal win for the second successive time in the Asian Games. The Women in Blue thrashed Sri Lanka in the final held at the Korogi Sports Park. After leading the team to a historic win, Harmanpreet resigned from captaincy. Mandhana is now India's full-time captain across formats.

Meanwhile, the men's captain Shreyas Iyer also presented an India signed jersey to PM Modi. He was accompanied by the other members of the gold medal-winning squad along with the head coach VVS Laxman.

Team India gift to PM Modi is a sign of respect from both the sides given to the head of state. The Prime Minister, in return, congratulated both the teams for their achievements in the multi-sporting event.

Why Did Gautam Gambhir Did Not Attend Team India Felicitation Event By PM Modi?

While some of the top names in Indian cricket arrived at the event, the absence of Gautam Gambhir surprised a few. However, it needs to be noted that Gambhir wasn't India's head coach during Asian Games. VVS Laxman was India's coach and he was present at the felicitation event.

Team India is arguably the best T20 team going around. They are also the current T20 World Cup champions, having won the title earlier this year under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav. The Asian Games gold medal win is Shreyas Iyer's first big achievement under his leadership.
