On May 5, 2026, an Office Memorandum was issues by the Government of India stating that Pakistan players are allowed to come, play and compete in India. However, they clearly mentioned that they are allowed in ONLY multilateral events hosted by India. There is no chance that there will be any scope of bilateral series between the two neighboring countries in any kind of sports, where neither India will be playing in Pakistan nor Pakistan is allowed to play in India in a bilateral series. The Memo Stated:
With regard to international and multilateral events, in India or abroad, we are guided by the practices of international sports bodies and the interest of our own sportspersons. It is also relevant to take into account India’s emergence as a credible venue to host international sports events.
This step will open door for the country without any controversy in the future as India wants to be a global sporting destination, by hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2030, as well as the 2036 Olympics and 2038 Asian Games. Along with this, India is hosting cricket Champions Trophy in 2029 and the 50-over World Cup in 2031, allowing best cricketers in the world to take part in the tournament in India.
