Indian Govt allows Pakistan Players in India, But….

The sports has always come forward to bring various nations together but there are also some who have built a different kind of rivalries in sports as well. India and Pakistan, the greatest rivalry in cricket as well as in other sports as well, has taken a new turn in India, with the new sports policy being introduced.

On the anniversary of Pahalgam terror attacks and Operation Sindoor, Indian Government has brought a change in the world of sports by allowing Pakistan players in India but set one condition. Sports lovers are thrilled with this decision where they can witness IND vs PAK yet again in India, but want to know what is the condition set by the Government.

What Does New Sports Policy Say About Pakistan Players in India?

On May 5, 2026, an Office Memorandum was issues by the Government of India stating that Pakistan players are allowed to come, play and compete in India. However, they clearly mentioned that they are allowed in ONLY multilateral events hosted by India. There is no chance that there will be any scope of bilateral series between the two neighboring countries in any kind of sports, where neither India will be playing in Pakistan nor Pakistan is allowed to play in India in a bilateral series. The Memo Stated:

This step will open door for the country without any controversy in the future as India wants to be a global sporting destination, by hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2030, as well as the 2036 Olympics and 2038 Asian Games. Along with this, India is hosting cricket Champions Trophy in 2029 and the 50-over World Cup in 2031, allowing best cricketers in the world to take part in the tournament in India.

When was Last Time IND vs PAK Played in India?

The last time IND vs PAK played in India in a bilateral series goes down the line to 2013 when the Pakistan cricket team toured India to play a white ball series, consists of 2 T20Is and 3 ODIs. The series was started with T20Is December 2012 and ended with ODI series in January 2013, where the T20I series was tied but the ODI series was scalped by the visiting team, Pakistan.

However, since then both have not played a single bilateral series in India but have featured against each other during the World Cups like ICC World Cup 2023, when both last played at the biggest cricket stadium in the world, Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
