Is Sikandar Raza Ruled Out of AUS vs ZIM T20 World Cup Match?

Zimbabwe Cricket Team might have suffered a massive blow amid the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. Their captain Sikandar Raza faced a threatening injury against Australia during the game at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Sikandar Raza, who took the new ball for Zimbabwe, bowled quite well in the powerplay, which also included the opening over. After that, he brought himself into the attack in the 7th over to maintain the pressure created by the pacers.

In the two overs that he bowled, he gave away 17 runs and was about to continue his spell in the 9th over afterwards. But an unfortunate injury saw him walking off the field and taking him out of the attack.

As Sikandar Raza was about to deliver the first ball of the 9th over, he stopped in his bowling action and collapsed onto the ground. Things didn’t look good for the star all-rounder as he looked in immense pain while holding his right calf.

At first, it looked like cramps, but he struggled big time and was seen limping around barefoot. After receiving some treatment, he was deemed unfit to bowl further by the physio as he hobbled off the ground. In his absence, Graeme Cremer was introduced into the attack to complete the over.

With the kind of pain Sikandar Raza looked in, he seemed to have injured his leg badly. Although, there is no official confirmation related to Sikandar Raza injury, he was later seen outside the boundary line preparing to come back.

This would be a massive blow for Zimbabwe for the rest of the tournament as Raza has been one of the best players for them. Not only will they miss their captain, but also a quality all-rounder, who has the experience of playing in some of the biggest cricket leagues in the world.

Sikandar Raza's Excellent Cameo with the Bat

During the AUS vs ZIM T20 World Cup 2026 match, Raza had a great outing with the bat earlier as he finished the innings on a high. The talented right-hander walked out to bat at No. 4 and played a brilliant cameo. He scored 25 runs off 13 balls with the help of two boundaries and one six. Thanks to his heroics with the bat, Zimbabwe posted a challenging total of 169 runs on a slow wicket.

This knock proved to be decisive as Zimbabwe posted a winning total on the board which they went on to defend later.
