At the time of the announcement of the Provisional Squad for the Champions Trophy, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar had said Bumrah would not be available for 1st couple of matches of the ODI series against England according to the medical report given by the medical staff of BCCI at that time.
Bumrah has been out of Cricket since he was not able to Bowl in the second innings of the Sydney Test in January. It was understood that he had sustained a stress reaction on his back which required a rest of five weeks to get healed from that.
If there is any chance of him getting available for the later stages of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 then India could choose to keep him in the 15 however he can be replaced later on if he doesn’t get fit by that time.
