Root was the star of England’s first innings as he played a magnificent knock of 160 runs, featuring 15 fours. It was also his 17th 150-plus score in Tests. With this knock, he has come closer to the Australian legend, Sir Don Bradman, who had 18 150-run knocks in the Test format.
The No. 1 player in the list is the God of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, with 20 150-run knocks, followed by Brian Lara and Kumar Sangakkara with 19 each. Bradman is in the fourth position followed by Joe Root, who can move up in the list in the upcoming matches.

Joe Root Equals Ricky Ponting Record
Along with the Joe Root Don Bradman record, the Englishman equaled the former Australian great Ricky Ponting, who had also scored 41 centuries in 168 Test matches. Root is now only behind Jacques Kallis and Sachin Tendulkar in the list most centuries in Tests. Kallis has scored 45 Test centuries while Tendulkar had 51 Test centuries to his name.
While coming to the most runs in Tests, Root is already in the 2nd spot with 13,937 runs just behind Tendulkar who has 15,921 runs in the format. Root is less than 2000 runs behind from Tendulkar and it would be interesting to see how soon he can beat the Master Blaster.
