Perth Scorchers records

The Big Bash League 2025-26 is over and Perth Scorchers have become the champions by defeating Sydney Sixers in the final match by six wickets. The Ashton Turner-led team lifted the title on their home ground at the Perth Stadium on January 25.

It was a historic win for the Scorchers as they became the first BBL team to achieve a monumental feat. With this win, they have also broken the record of two iconic Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.

Perth Scorchers Break Record of CSK and MI

Perth Scorchers had five BBL titles before today's final. Similarly, CSK and MI, along with the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) team Trinbago Knight Riders, also have five titles in their respective leagues. However, today's win has pushed Perth ahead of all of them. The win adds one more feather to Perth Scorchers records that keep growing with every year.

They now have the most titles win by any franchise in their respective leagues. Getting past some of the best teams in IPL is nothing short of a milestone and Scorchers proved why they are among the most successful teams in the history of Big Bash League. Perth Scorchers BBL wins went to a different level as they defeated another iconic BBL franchise Sydney Sixers, who have won the title three times so far.

Sydney Sixers No Match for Perth Scorchers in BBL Final

Perth Scorchers skipper Ashton Turner opted to field first after winning the toss, and the decision worked for them. Perth got their first breakthrough in the second over of the innings. However, all-rounder Aaron Hardie provided the crucial wicket of in-form batter Steve Smith in the sixth over.

The Sixers never looked in great rhythm as they continued to lose wickets while scoring runs at a very low pace. They were eventually bowled out for just 132 runs in 20 overs. David Payne was the star with the ball for the Scorchers as he conceded only 18 runs in four overs, while picking up three wickets as well.

Chasing the target in the Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Sixers final, Mitchell Marsh and Finn Allen provided a great start to the team, stitching 80 runs for the first wicket in just 8.2 overs. The openers set the platform for a successful chase as they chased the target quite comfortably, with 2.3 overs to spare.
