The stage for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2026 is all set as the auction of the league finished in a grand way. The bidding event took place on Sunday, November 30 and saw some of the surprising things happening, which caught the attention of many. All six franchises made some valuable picks and ensured that they filled in the balance of the team.

While some of the key players find bidders, what caught the attention of many was that a lot of big names, who have proved themselves at the international stage as well as league stage went unsold.

In what was the first mega auction after 12 years, it saw players getting divided into categories of A, B, C, D, E, and F. However, more than the sold players, it was unsold players who hogged the headlines.

Piyush Chawla Unsold in BPL 2026 Auction

One of the prominent names that went unsold in the BPL 2026 auction was veteran Indian spinner, Piyush Chawla. The wrist spinner was part of the league last year and also performed consistently throughout his Indian Premier League (IPL) career.

He was expected to be picked by one of the franchises as he could have been handy in the league with conditions in Bangladesh being spin-friendly. Chawla also played an instrumental role in Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014.

His famous four in the final is still fresh in the minds of many. But not only him, even veteran Pakistan player Shoaib Malik also failed to attract the bidders. Malik is one of the best T20 batsmen of all time with truckloads of runs and wickets under his belt.

Ireland star Josh Little, who played IPL last season for the Gujarat Titans, (GT) also went unsold. This was one of the biggest shocks as he is one of the best T20 bowlers of all time. Also, Pakistan T20I skipper Salman Ali Agha didn’t get any contract.
