Punjab Cricket Team came up with a magical effort with the ball in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 game against Mumbai. The game between the two teams took place at the Jaipuria Vidyalaya Ground in Jaipur on Thursday, January 8.

Mumbai won the toss and opted to field against Punjab. They came up with a sensational effort with the ball and didn’t allow the opposition batters to cross the line. The Punjab players were clearly exhilarated with this victory and it was visible from their celebration.

Mumbai Start Well But Lose the Plot

Mumbai had a decent start with the bat with Angkrish Raghuvanshi (23) and Musheer Khan (21) batting well. But the real blitz was provided by Sarfaraz Khan in the Mumbai vs Punjab Vijay Hazare trophy match. The right-hander batted at three and changed the complexion of the game with his brutal knock.

At one stage, Mumbai were cruising at 169 for three, but Punjab bowlers made a stunning comeback as fell, the wickets fell like a pack of cards with Mayank Markande and Gurnoor Brar doing most of the damage with their four-wicket haul each.

Mumbai got all out for just 215 and lost the game by a margin of just one run. The loss will hurt Mumbai big time as they bottled in what seemed to he an easy chase for them. For magical effort with the ball, Gurnoor Brar, who returned with the figures of 4/57 was awarded the Player of the Match.

In the Vijay Hazare Trophy points table of Group C, Punjab now take the top position with 6 wins out of their seven games. Mumbai are at the second spot with 5 wins out of their seven matches.
