The Indian Women’s Cricket Team player Richa Ghosh is having the time of her life. She was one of the stars for India in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, scoring important runs down the order in the crucial junctures of the different matches.

Richa Ghosh, who is one of the best women's wicket-keepers in the world, has been receiving a lot of applause for her heroics in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. The highest honour for her recently came from the West Bengal Police.

Richa Ghosh Appointed West Bengal Police DSP

For winning the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, Richa Ghosh was appointed as the DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police). Also, she was appointed as the ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police) in the Siliguri Commissionerate. Richa Ghosh police presence as DSP is a rare moment in Indian women's cricket.

She was given the police uniform on Wednesday, December 4. The development of Richa Ghosh DSP appointment was confirmed by the West Bengal Police on their social media as they released the video of her appointment. In an official statement, they said:

“Richa Ghosh, a crucial member of the Indian team that won the Women's Cricket World Cup, joined the State Police today in the rank of DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police). She has been appointed as ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police) in the Siliguri Commissionerate. Welcome, Richa, to the West Bengal Police family. With many best wishes and congratulations.”

Richa Ghosh was one of the main reasons behind India winning the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. Batting down the order, she slammed 235 runs in eight matches at an average of 39.16 and an impressive strike rate of 133.52. Richa Ghosh runs in World Cup 2025 played a vital role in India's title winning run.

Richa Ghosh’s best came in the league match against South Africa, where she slammed 94 runs. But that ended in vain as India lost the match. She also played a handy knock of 34 runs in the final that helped India post a total of around 300 runs. During the tournament, she showcased her abilities to become one of the best women cricketers in future.

After her heroics in the World Cup, Richa Ghosh was felicitated by the Bengal government as well as the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). The cricketing body rewarded her with a golden bat and ball along with a cash reward of Rs 34 lakh in recognition of her 34-run performance in the final.

On the other hand, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee gave her the appointment letter of DSP and also presented her with a gold chain. Not only this, but she also mentioned that they will be building a stadium in the name of Richa on 27 acres of land in the Chandmani Tea Estate in Siliguri

Richa Ghosh will now next be seen in action when India will host Sri Lanka in the T20I series later this month. After that, she will join Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026.
