The Rohit Sharma Stand in Wankhede Stadium is a testament to his glorious cricket career, and to pay tribute to all his illustrious efforts for the country and the state, organized by the Mumbai Cricket Association.
Rohit walked his parents onto the stage for the ultimate honour of pressing the button and unveiling his stand. His parents, Mr. Gurunath Sharma and Mrs. Poornima Sharma, were looking teary-eyed, as this was a moment of great respect for the proud parents. His wife, Ritika Sajdeh, stood beside him during the entire inauguration, soaking in the moment with a fulfilling smile.
A total of three stands and an MCA Office Lounge were inaugurated by the Maharashtra CM, Devendra Fadnavis. Alongside the Rohit Sharma Stand, two other stands were inaugurated, one was of the former Indian Captain, Ajit Wadekar, and the other one was of former BCCI president, Sharad Pawar.

It must be a very special and memorable day for the 38-year-old ODI Captain, getting a stand named after him in the presence of his entire family. He has mentioned before that this is like a dream come true for him to have the Rohit Sharma Stand in Wankhede Stadium. The place where it all began, the stadium in which he always dreamt of playing. In a conversation with ANI, Hitman said:
It's going to be even more special to have my family here, parents, brother, and wife. I am grateful and thankful for whatever they have sacrificed for me. What is going to happen today, I have never dreamed of. As a kid growing up, I wanted to play for Mumbai, for India. For me to have my name amongst the greats of the game, I cannot express it in words. This is so special as I am still playing. I have retired from two formats, but I am still playing one format. It will be surreal when I play here on the 21st ( for Mumbai Indians in IPL) and have a stand here, it will be special when I represent the country here.
His statements have clearly expressed his interest in playing for the country in the ODI format and to have a match in the Wankhede Stadium. Rohit further added,
I had never dreamt of what was going to happen today. You try to achieve a lot of milestones, but something like this is really special, because Wankhede is an iconic stadium, and so many memories have been made here. Special Thanks to Pawar Saheb and Fadnavis Sir for making it very special. My special team, MI, is also here waiting for my speech to be over and to start training," he said with a smile.
Location and Ticket Price of Rohit Sharma Stand
The MCA has honoured Rohit Sharma with the very first ticket to The Rohit Sharma Stand. He will be featuring in the clash between the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals on 21 May 2025, in the Wankhede Stadium. The stand is at level 3 and block A from Gate 7.
The fare for a ticket in the Rohit Sharma Stand is Rs 999. Price may vary on the basis of seating arrangements. The fans are elated and are looking forward to the match between the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals to see their idol smashing a six in the stand named after him.
