6,6,6,6,6,6! Kerala Cricketer Breaks Yuvraj Singh’s Record with 11 Sixes in 12 Balls

The ongoing Kerala Cricket League (KCL) has seen many interesting matches and terrific knocks from different players. India's star wicketkeeper Sanju Samson has wreaked havoc on the bowlers in the tournament. In just three matches, he has scored 21 sixes as an opener, sending a message to the selectors ahead of the Asia Cup 2025.

Following in his footsteps, Salman Nizar of Calicut Globstars did something extraordinary in the 19th match of the KCL 2025 against the Adani Trivandrum Royals. He scored 86 runs off 26 balls, including 12 sixes and broke the 6 balls 6 sixes record made by the former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh.

Salman Nizar Breaks Yuvraj Singh Record

In the ongoing match, Salman Nizar took on Abhijith Praveen in the last over, slamming 6 sixes in 6 balls. In the first ball of the last over, he hit a six. The next two balls were extras, including a wide and a no-ball. Following that, the batter hit five sixes off the next five deliveries, making it 6 sixes off 6 balls. He added his name to the elite list of players, breaking India's former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh's record.

In 2007, Yuvraj Singh etched his name in the 6 Ball 6 Six Record List when he smashed Stuart Broad in a T20 World Cup 2007 match against England. The legendary India all-rounder, one of the most dangerous batsmen in the world of all time, also smashed the fastest-ever-fifty in this game. Calicut Globstars Score 186 runs in first innings

In the 19th match of the KCL 2025, Calicut Globstars are taking on the Adani Trivandrum Royals at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. The match started with the Royals winning the toss and choosing to field first. It looked like a perfect decision as the Globstars lost their first wicket in the 2nd over when they had scored just 12 runs.

Opener Preethish Pawan was dismissed on just 7 off 10 balls. However, before losing his wicket, he showed perfect intent and had hit a maximum as well. Soon after losing him, captain Kunnummal was dismissed by Basil Thampi in the last ball of the 4th over. At that point, the Globstars were 24-2, struggling to form partnerships in the match.

Then in the 8th over, they lost Akhil Scaria, while he was batting on 6 off 8 balls. He didn't trouble the scoreboard much and went back to the pavilion. Later, Maruthungal Ajinas and Suresh Sachin tried to form a partnership but failed miserably. Suresh was dismissed on 8 runs. Meanwhile, Maruthungal scored 51 off 50 balls, including three boundaries and four sixes in the match before getting out. It was Nikhil M who bowled a beautiful delivery to dismiss the set batter.

Salman Nizar Plays a Blistering Knock

When Salman Nizar came to bat, the team was in deep trouble, struggling to put up a good total on the board. However, the match turned as soon as he started hitting sixes against the Royals' bowlers. He hit 12 boundaries and took just 26 balls to score an unbeaten 86 runs. It was one of the best innings by a middle-order batter in the history of the tournament as he batted at a strike rate of 330.77.

The crowd enjoyed the batting as he turned the fielders into spectators throughout the match. Thanks to his fiery innings, the Globstars were able to score 186 runs in the first innings. While the tournament is just at the starting stage, each and every game is equally important.

As the Royals are chasing a respectable total, they have lost one of their openers, Vishnu Raj, on just 15 runs in the 3rd over. He was playing on 12 off 5, including one boundary and six. As we write, captain Krishna Prasad and Riya Basheer are on the crease and have to chase 153 runs in 90 balls. While it is chaseable, the Royals will need to bat out of their skin.
