Saudi Arabia To Host ILT20 In Future: Know The Reason

3 min
ILT20

Saudi Arabia has made the first step into the mainstream of cricket by establishing a strategic agreement with the International League T20 (ILT20). This partnership would require all six participating teams to have at least one player from Saudi Arabia. The cooperation allows the DP World ILT20, which has been certified by the Emirates Cricket Board, to stage matches in Saudi Arabia in the next season as an official T20 league for both men and women. The Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation (SACF) has sanctioned and licensed the league.

The ILT20 and SACF will collaborate through the partnership to identify and develop cricket players in the country. Additionally, they will work with the Cricket Investment Company (CIC) in Saudi Arabia and concentrate on the capital needed to make the sport more widely accepted. "Saudi Arabia players will also have a direct pathway into the DP World ILT20. Notably, the DP World ILT20 Season 4 Player Auction, scheduled for Wednesday, will require each franchise to secure at least one player from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," read a statement from ILT20.

Saudi Arabia To Host ILT20: New Ecosystem

In the upcoming years, Saudi Arabia, which held a cricket festival earlier this month "to create a new ecosystem" for the sport in the nation, will also organize ILT20 matches. Among other well-known former players, the ILT20 has the best cricketer in the world, including David Warner, Jonathan Trott, and Dwayne Bravo. After a surprise absence from cricket for so long, the board will now concentrate on growing and promoting the game in the Gulf area.

A significant turning point in cricket's history is Saudi Arabia's intention to get involved. Prince Saud Bin Mishal Al-Saud, the chairman of the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation (SACF), stated that the collaboration is an expression of his dedication to advancing cricket in his nation. "It also provides a platform for fan engagement within the Kingdom and opens up further avenues for developing the game across infrastructure and tourism...," he added.

ILT20 Set to Start from December 2

The International League T20 (ILT20), one of the biggest cricket league in the world, will begin its fourth season on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, which is UAE National Day (Eid Al Etihad). There are 34 high-stakes games with some of the best T20 players in the world that will take place throughout the season, which ends on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

The competition has made a big change by moving from its normal January–February time frame to a December–January window, which coincides with the world cricket schedule. The updated calendar guarantees international players enough time to adjust from franchise to national responsibilities, especially with the ICC Men's T20 World Cup approaching in early February 2026. Fans in the UAE and abroad should prepare for another incredible chapter in the ILT20 story, as Season 4 promises a joyous fusion of cricketing skill and cultural celebration.
