The mini auction for the WPL 2027 will take place on October 28, 2026, and exactly a month prior to the auction, the retention deadline was set for the teams to retain a specific set of players and release others.

1. Danni Wyatt-Hodge

A big name missing from the retention list is Danni Wyatt-Hodge, who represented the Gujarat Giants Women in the WPL 2027. She is one of the most experienced top-order batters from England and has scored plenty of runs in international cricket. She only played a single match in the WPL 2026, which could be the reason for releasing her from the squad.

2. Deandra Dottin

Another name under the spotlight among released players ahead of the WPL auction 2027 is Deandra Dottin. She was playing for the UP Warriorz Women last season and is known as one of the best all-rounders in WPL, contributing well with both bat and ball. However, she has played a few matches in the WPL.

3. Lizelle Lee

A shocking name missing from the WPL 2027 retentions is Lizelle Lee, who was the opener for the Delhi Capitals Women in the WPL 2026. Even after performing exceptionally, she couldn't make it through the retention list. She played 10 matches and scored 320 runs with an impressive average and strike rate throughout the season.

Indian wicket-keeper batter Gunalan Kamalini is also among the released players, as the Mumbai Indians Women parted ways with her after 2 seasons.
