It has been tough being Unmukt Chand. The former Under-19 World Cup-winning skipper is not having a great time as a cricketer in the United States. One day ago, Chand scored a brilliant century, but things took a turn for the worse the next day when he injured himself after colliding with another fielder while taking a catch.

After Unmukt Chand face injury, he shared a tweet on X (formerly Twitter) showing the damage and mentioning his previous injuries, which he sustained while playing cricket in the USA. He still has not given up, and continues to fight for a place in the USA side.

How Did Unmukt Chand Get Injured?

Unmukt Chand recently scored a century for Lone Star Athletics against the All Stars in the Minor Cricket League 2026. But then, in the next game the following day, Chand injured himself while taking a catch. He collided with another fielder and found himself injured, after which he shared some upsetting pictures but promised to be back on the field sooner rather than later.

This was not the first time that Unmukt Chand has gotten injured. In 2022, the Under-19 World Cup-winning skipper, faced a terrifying on-field incident in October 2022. He suffered a facial injury that left his left eye swollen and barely open. At the time, he was playing for the Silicon Valley Strikers in the Minor Cricket League.

Before all this, while playing for Delhi in 2018, Chand had faced a broken Jaw in the nets in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh. Despite Unmukt Chand injury, he did not stop and played the entire match, scoring 116 off 125 balls and leading Delhi to a 115-run victory.

Unmukt Chand's Journey in Professional Cricket

Unmukt Chand has had a stop-start journey in cricket. He peaked when he led India to an Under-19 triumph in 2012, including a century in the final against Australia. He was once considered as one of the best batsmen in India.

However, despite strong performances in the Under-19 circuit and domestic cricket, he struggled to break into the senior Indian side and announced his retirement from Indian cricket to pursue opportunities in the United States of America.

He became one of the most prominent players in the Minor Cricket League and became the first Indian player to play in the Big Bash League when the Melbourne Renegades recruited him in 2022. Chand remains a prominent player in the USA, and it will be interesting to see whether he can break into the USA side in the near future.
