Virat Kohli’s Nephew, Virender Sehwag’s Sons Shortlisted for DPL 2025 Auction

The upcoming Delhi Premier League (DPL) auction is already drawing attention with some familiar cricketing surnames making headlines. On July 5, the auction is all set to feature young talent, including the relatives of two Indian cricket legends, Virat Kohli and Virender Sehwag.

Both Kohli and Sehwag have been legends not only for Delhi but for India as well. While Sehwag has retired a long time ago, Kohli is still an active player. Kohli has retired from T20Is and Tests but is still active in ODIs, which is his favorite format as well.

Virat Kohli Nephew in DPL 2025 Draft

The 15-year-old Aaryaveer Kohli, nephew of Virat Kohli, has been included in the initial draft for the DPL 2025 auction. Aaryaveer is the son of Vikas Kohli, Virat’s elder brother. He is a leg-spinner who trains at the West Delhi Cricket Academy, under Rajkumar Sharma, the same coach who trained Virat in his early years.

Notably, Virat Kohli Nephew, Aaryaveer, played for Delhi Under-16s last season. He was among the top 30 registered players in the squad. For the DPL auction, he has been slotted in Category C, which mostly includes young and emerging players. While he would be under pressure due to the “Kohli” surname, he will be aiming to make a big name for himself.

Virender Sehwag Sons in DPL 2025 Draft

Another well-known surname in the draft is “Sehwag.” Reportedly, the former Indian opener Virender Sehwag’s two sons, Aaryavir and Vedant, have both made it to the DPL 2025 auction list. Aaryavir Sehwag, 17, has been placed in Category B. He is a top-order batter and recently made headlines with a knock of 297 runs against Meghalaya in a domestic Under-19 match.

His younger brother, 15-year-old Vedant Sehwag, is an off-spinner. Like Aaryaveer Kohli, Vedant also played for Delhi Under-16s and has been included in the Category C list. This has brought extra excitement to the DPL 2025 auction, as fans eagerly wait to see if the young stars will follow in the footsteps of their famous family members.

DPL Expands to Eight Teams

The Delhi Premier League is a T20 tournament that aims to promote young talent from the capital city This year, the league will feature eight teams as two new franchises, Outer Delhi and New Delhi have joined the existing six teams, East Delhi Riders, North Delhi Strikers, West Delhi Lions, South Delhi Superstarz, Purani Dilli 6 and Central Delhi Kings.

The DPL was launched last year and quickly gained popularity as it provided a platform for many young cricketers to shine. In its first season, the league gave a platform to exciting talents, one of whom was Priyansh Arya. He stunned everyone by hitting six sixes in an over and scoring 120 runs off just 50 balls in a match. His explosive performance helped him earn a massive IPL contract worth Rs 3.80 crore from Punjab Kings.

Priyansh continued to perform well in IPL 2025. He scored 475 runs, including a century. His rise has inspired many young cricketers in Delhi. Another standout was Digvesh Rathi. The young bowler was picked by Lucknow Super Giants. He took 14 wickets in 13 matches during the season. His consistent bowling played a big role for his team.
