Was Fakhar Zaman Wrongly Given Out During Super 4 Game Against India?

Pakistan were off to a promising and optimistic start in the first two overs of the game against India in the Super 4 stage. Both the openers showed intent right from the first ball they faced and got Pakistan off to a strong start. Fakhar Zaman smashed three boundaries and was pitted to score a big knock here.
However, Hardik Pandya acted as a thorn in the dreams of Fakhar Zaman as he bowled a beautiful off-cutter in the 3rd ball of the 3rd over. The left-handed opener nicked it off straight to Sanju Samson, who took an excellent catch by going low. The Indian players looked confident and after the 3rd umpire looked at it, we realised it was a close call.

The ball was close to the ground and it felt like Samson didn’t have his fingers underneath the ball. It looked like an extremely close call. But the third umpire decided to give it out, much to the dismay and disappointment of Fakhar Zaman. The southpaw looked visibly frustrated and upset and went back to the dressing room.

Was Fakhar Zaman Wrongly Given Out Against India?

The third umpire took a call based on the available camera angles and with the evidence he had, it felt like it did carry to Sanju Samson. However, several Pakistani supporters are claiming on social media that it was not-out and why wasn’t the side-on video angle was not used. But the host broadcaster showed replays from the side-on angles and it was way too unclear.

In the end, the umpire felt it was out and ruled the decision in the favor of the fielding team. It remains to be seen if Pakistan takes up this matter up to the match referee after the game or not. However, it was a big wicket for India as Zaman is one of the most dangerous batsmen in the world.

India Sloppy in the Field

The Indian cricket team was extremely sloppy on the field during the Super 4 game against Pakistan. Abhishek Sharma dropped 2 catches, including Sahibzada Farhan at 0. He miscued the catch as he didn’t time his run well. Sharma dropped Farhan yet again, albeit it was a difficult one off Varun Chakravarthy’s bowling.

This incident happened in the 3rd ball of the 8th over after Sahibzada Farhan had smashed the ball towards the cow-corner region in the field. It was a difficult chance and Sharma’s one-handed effort went in vain. Later, Kuldeep Yadav also dropped a dolly in the 5th over off Varun Chakravarthy’s bowling. Yadav was stationed in the short fine-leg region and dropped Saim Ayub’s catch.

Pakistan Post Competitive Total

Pakistan took notes from Oman’s spirited performance against India and batted sensibly in this Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 game. Despite batting with some pain in his hand, Sahibzada Farhan has been the torchbearer of the batting department of Pakistan. At the time of writing this article, the Men in Green are batting on 103 runs, after 12 overs.

Farhan has smashed a fifty and the best bowler of the world, Jasprit Bumrah, to the cleaners. The intimidating Bumrah looked off-colour and conceded 34 runs in just 3 overs. He was smashed for several fours and sixes by the Pakistani batters. In the end, he went for 45 runs in his four overs. Pakistan finished the first innings with a highly competitive 171-5 on the board.
