Asia Cup 2025: What Happens if Pakistan Boycott Final League Match Against UAE?

The Asia Cup 2025 has been a tournament filled with drama, entertainment and action. On 14^th September 2025, India locked horns with Pakistan and outclassed them by 7 wickets. But there was a lot of drama surrounding the game as Suryakumar Yadav and co. declined the customary handshake ceremony between the players after the game.

Yadav even ignored Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha at the toss and the entire social media is divided for this. While some argue that is was a direct insult at Pakistan, others hailed India for upholding the spirit of solidarity and national sentiments.

Now, after the game is over, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) President and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, has claimed that match referee Andy Pycroft had asked the two teams not to shake hands during this game. As a result, Naqvi has demanded for the resignation of Pycroft for allegedly violating the ICC Code of Conduct and the Spirit of Cricket.

Now, as per a report in Cricbuzz, Pakistan can boycott their match against the UAE on 17^th September 2025, if their demands aren’t met. They want Andy Pycroft to be removed from referee panel for the entire Asia Cup 2025.

What Happens If Pakistan Boycott Asia Cup Match Against UAE?

If Pakistan pull out from the game against UAE, there are high chances that the Men in Green will get eliminated from the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. Pakistan presently have 2 points and have lost their game against India. If they don’t play their match against UAE, the latter gets awarded 2 points.

UAE played Oman on 15^th September 2025 and managed to beat them as well. They will be on four points if Pakistan boycott their final league match. Therefore, the tension is palpable as Pakistan could possibly lose out on the Super 4 spot and would crash out of the tournament in the first stage itself.

India Thrash Pakistan in Dubai

India-Pakistan is probably the greatest rivalry in cricket. While the IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2025 match was filled with political tensions between the two nations, India showed their class and superiority to thrash Pakistan by 7 wickets in Dubai. Led by the heroics of Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah, India restricted Pakistan to 127 runs in the first innings. The Men in Blue didn’t have to break a sweat while gunning down the total and they chased it in 15.5 overs.

India's skipper Suryakumar Yadav showed why he is regarded as he best T20 batsman of this generation. He top-scored with 47* runs off 37 balls and took his team home. His innings was laced with 5 fours and 1 six and he batted with a strike-rate of 127.03. Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma also contributed well and scored 31 runs each.
