When Will Kerala Cricket Ground Host Its First International Match?

The Kerala Cricket Association has announced the inauguration date of their KCA Mangalapuram Cricket Ground, which is going to enhance cricketing experience in the state. The ground has already hosted some first-class matches but is yet to host an international so far.

With some of the best cricket stadiums in India already, getting an international match won't be easy for this new stadium in Kerala. However, this ground is all set to be inaugurated now, which is a significant growth in state's cricket dreams.

When Will Kerala Cricket Ground Host First International Match?

The newly built KCA Mangalapuram Cricket Ground, located in Thiruvananthapuram, is among the most recent cricket venues developed by the Kerala Cricket Association. It is the first cricket stadium in the district fully owned by the KCA. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled on March 16, Monday at 6 PM IST.

The venue gained attention in 2025 when it hosted its maiden first-class match during the Ranji Trophy season, marking an important milestone for cricket infrastructure in the state. However, as of now, there is no confirmed date for the Kerala Cricket Ground first international match. The international cricket schedule is determined by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and India's schedule for the next few months is already decided.

Despite the lack of an official announcement, the stadium’s development and its early use for domestic matches indicate that it could become a potential international venue in the coming years. In the stadium, Kerala has played against Karnataka and Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26. While Karnataka won by an innings and 164 runs, the match against Saurashtra ended up in a draw. As a result, it is possible that KCA Mangalapuram Cricket Ground first international match might be held soon.

What is Kerala's Premier Cricket Venue?

While the Kerala cricket ground international debut is yet to happen, the state already has a prominent international venue: the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. This stadium, which is one of the biggest cricket stadiums in India, serves as the home ground for the Kerala cricket team in domestic season, and has hosted several international matches including the T20Is.

Recently, India played against New Zealand on January 31, just before the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, where the home team won the match by 46 runs. The stadium hosted an international match after a hiatus of three years. Before that, India played here in 2023 against Australia. The stadium has hosted five matches so far where India have registered four victories.
