Why is Arshdeep Singh Not Playing Today Match in IND vs NZ 1st ODI?

The three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand kicked off on January 11. The first match of the series is being played in Vadodara, where veteran Indian batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be in action.

India opted to bowl first after winning the toss. However, fans were surprised to know that one of the best T20 bowlers in the world, Arshdeep Singh hasn't been included in the playing 11.

Why is Arshdeep Singh Not Playing Today Match in IND vs NZ 1st ODI?

India's star pacer Arshdeep Singh couldn't make it to India's playing 11 for the first IND vs NZ ODI in Vadodara. There are no reports

regarding Arshdeep's injury. It can be said that the team management is giving some other pacers a chance to cement their place in the playing XI. Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Harshit Rana are the three pacers playing today.

India have been following the rotation policy to test their pacers, who might get a chance to be part of the team for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

India Playing With Six Bowlers Against New Zealand

Despite not including Arshdeep Singh in the squad, the Indian cricket team is still playing with six bowlers today. As mentioned above, three pacers are featuring Md Siraj, Harshit, and Prasidh. Apart from them, three spinners in the squad will come in handy during the middle overs.

The three spinners who are playing today are one of the best all-rounders in the world, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Washington Sundar. Kuldeep is the only wrist spinner in the squad who will be crucial to break partnerships in the middle overs.

There is no other wrist spinner in the squad, so it can be said that Kuldeep Yadav might get to play all three matches of the series.

Jadeja and Sundar are known to slow down the run-scoring pace of the opponents; however, along with that, they will also be contributing with their bat as well.
