For India, the contest is crucial as a victory would earn them four points and bring the series level. However, the start did not go the way Captain Harmanpreet Kaur would have hoped. India introduced four debutants in their XI: Pratika Rawal, Kashvee Gautam, Kranti Gaud, and Sayali Satghare, while Australia handed a debut to young left-arm seamer Lucy Hamilton.
