Team India suffered a blow during the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium when KL Rahul walked off the field just when the game was about to begin after tea.

At tea, India were 197-1 with KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal looking strong with an aim to build their partnership further. Rahul, one of the best openers in the world, was batting on 77 off 162 balls. But he looked in discomfort when he walked out to bat again after tea.

Why Did KL Rahul Retire Hurt in Galle Test?

Rahul was receiving some treatment in the dugout before coming out to bat for the last session. When he walked out to bat in the last session of Day 1 of the SL vs IND 1st Test, he clearly looked in pain. It seemed like he was feeling discomfort in his forearm as Sri Lankan captain Dhananjaya de Silva and on-field umpires checked in.

The opener looked unable to hold his bat when he came into the field. The Indian team physio walked in to attend KL Rahul and he walked off the field after an assessment. Rahul retired hurt on 77 and can come back later as well.

KL Rahul injury is not a good news for India as well as for him. The right-hander was batting patiently and looked set for a three-digit score. However, he had to walk off the field for further treatment.

Will KL Rahul Come Out to Bat Again?

Currently, there are no updates on KL Rahul's injury but he is likely to come out to bat again. He has retired hurt and will be eligible to bat after the fall of any wicket. He will be looking to complete a well-deserved century after he comes out to bat again in this innings.

Over the years, Rahul has established himself as one of the best Test batsmen. His record in the red-ball cricket has significantly improved as he became a reliable Test opener for his team.

Earlier, Rahul out up a solid 47-run opening partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal before the latter got run out in an unfortunate way. He then put up an important partneship of 150 runs with Devdutt Padikkal before retiring hurt.
