Why Pratika Rawal is Ruled Out of ENG-W vs IND-W Lord's Test? Replacement Confirmed

India Women have suffered a big blow ahead of the upcoming one-off Test match against England Women as top order batter Pratika Rawal has been ruled out. Rawal has emerged to be one of the top performers for India in WODIs, but is yet to make an impression in the longest format.

This is a historic match between two of the best women's cricket teams in the world. It will be the first-ever women's Test match at the iconic Lord's, marking a historic moment in the sport's history.

Pratika Rawal Ruled Out of Lord's Test

Pratika Rawal injury was confirmed by India Women head coach Amol Muzumdar during the press conference a day ahead of ENG-W vs IND-W Only Test. Muzumdar didn't reveal the exact details about the injury but it seems to be related to the lower-body issues that she has been suffering lately.

After being ruled out of the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 midway through the tournament, Pratika Rawal, one of the best women cricketers, made it back to international cricket through the WACA Test. However, the recent injury concern has turned out to be a setback for her.

Muzumdar later confirmed another top order batter Priya Punia as Pratika Rawal replacement for this match. Punia has been training with the India squad in England, making her a perfect replacement for Pratika Rawal for Lord's Test.

Punia was already in England and recently played a big role in India A Women's unofficial ODI series win in England. She scored 87 and 61 in the second and third match of the series respectively.

Who Will Replace Pratika Rawal in India Playing 11 For Lord's Test?

With no Pratika Rawal for the IND-W vs ENG-W Lord's Test, Harleen Deol might be included in the playing 11. India also have an option to bring in Priya Punia given her recent form for India A in similar conditions. However, with Harleen already with the squad, she is likely to get the nod.

The India Women squad for the Only Test at Lord's looks strong despite Rawal not available. Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma are likely to open the batting. Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma form a strong middle order.

Playing a Test match at Lord's is a dream for every cricketer and Pratika has missed a big chance after missing out of this game. However, she will be aiming for a comeback into the team soon.
