The much-awaited T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal between India and England is finally underway at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The winner of the clash will meet New Zealand in the final, which will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

England made a big move by benching their spin-bowling all-rounder Rehan Ahmed for the IND vs ENG T20 World Cup semi-final. Considering the surface at the Wankhede Stadium, the England team management decided to play an extra pacer instead of a spinner.

Pace bowling all-rounder, Jamie Overton, has been named as Rehan Ahmed replacement for this game. While giving an extra pace bowling option, Overton also provides a batting option at the lower order and has the ability to hit big sixes.

Rehan Ahmed had an excellent outing in the only game that he played in the T20 World Cup 2026. The leg-spinner picked up 2-28 in three overs against New Zealand and then scored a 7-ball-19 under pressure to help England win the match. However, the pace-friendly Wankhede Stadium meant that he had to miss out on the all-important IND vs ENG semi final 2026.

Rehan doesn't have a lot of experience of playing on a big platform like the ICC T20 World Cup. The leg-spinner has only featured in 13 T20I matches so far, picking up 15 wickets at an average of 24.06. However, the bowler has been quite expensive when it comes to leaking runs as he has a poor economy rate of 9.50.
