Richa Ghosh

Indian wicket-keeper batter, Richa Ghosh is missing from India playing 11 for the 3rd and final ODI against Zimbabwe Women on Wednesday, October 28, at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. Smriti Mandhana-led Indian side has made three changes for the series finale, bringing in Kranti Gaud, Harleen Deol and Yastika Bhatia. One of the best women's cricket teams in the world, India have already secured the three-match ODI series after winning the first two games and will now look to complete a clean sweep. Zimbabwe, meanwhile, will aim to finish the tour with a strong performance against the hosts.

Why is Richa Ghosh Not Playing Today Against Zimbabwe Women?

India captain Smriti Mandhana confirmed that Yastika Bhatia comes in as Richa Ghosh replacement in the playing 11 for the third ODI. While Mandhana announced three changes, she did not provide any specific reason for Ghosh's exclusion. Her absence appears to be part of India's rotation and combination plans, with the team giving Yastika an opportunity behind the stumps. Richa Ghosh had a modest outing in the second ODI, scoring just seven runs, but there is no official confirmation that her omission was performance-related.

Mandhana also explained India's decision to field three specialist pacers and two spinners, keeping the upcoming South Africa tour and Champions Trophy preparations in mind.

Opening Quote

“We have three changes - Kranti, Harleen and Yastika come in place of Richa, Tejal Hasabnis and Shree Charani. [On India's combination of three seamers and two spinners] Yeah, we have South Africa next, and the Champions Trophy, and considering that's going to be night matches and a lot of dew, we did consider in all of those conditions that three pacers would be ideal,” Mandhana said at the Toss.
