Why Richard Ngarava is Not Playing Today in ZIM vs SA T20 World Cup Match?

In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 clash between South Africa and Zimbabwe at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza won the toss and chose to bat first, hoping that putting runs on the board will ease some pressure on his side.

Zimbabwe have found the Super 8 stage tough, especially with the ball, as they have struggled to contain strong batting line-ups on flat Indian pitches. Their batting has also lacked consistency, except for the impressive form of Brian Bennett and the skipper Raza himself. However, the middle order will need to offer better support if Zimbabwe are to challenge a confident South African team.

By choosing to bat first, Zimbabwe will aim for a total around 170 or more, believing that scoreboard pressure could give their bowlers something to defend in their last Super 8 encounter. They have made three changes in their lineup and notably Richard Ngarava has been dropped ahead of this clash against the Proteas.

The Zimbabwe team management had to drop fast bowler Richard Ngarava for this fixture because of a lower back injury. He was an integral part of the bowling lineup and Wellington Masakadza has been brought back in as Richard Ngarava replacement.

The Proteas have also made three changes to their lineup in order to rest their key bowlers for the knockouts. Anrich Nortje, Kwena Maphaka and George Linde comes in for South Africa, while Kasigo Rabada, Marcos Jansen and Keshav Maharaj sit this one out.
