Pakistan cricket team made a change in its batting order during the Asian Games Cricket gold medal match against India at the Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin. The talented left-handed batter Saim Ayub didn't come out to open and instead came to bat at a different position.

Ayub is usually an opener and mostly bats at the top of the order. However, he came in to bat at No. 5 during the seventh over of the innings, leaving the Pakistani fans in surprise.

Why Saim Ayub is Not Opening Today?

There is no specific reason why Saim Ayub didn't come out to open in this game. However, it seems to have come down to Pakistan's batting combination for the Asian Games 2026. Saim hasn't been preferred as the opener in this Asian Games and Pakistan went along with this strategy during the final.

Captain Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat were Pakistan openers for Asian Games final. After Farhan was dismissed cheaply, the fans hoped to see Ayub at No. 3. However, he was pushed down to No. 5 in the batting order.
