Why Vaibhav Suryavanshi is Not Playing Today?

Suryavanshi didn't get a chance to be in the playing 11 for the 1st T20I due to the playing combination. India, being the World Champions and the best T20 team in the world, have decided to stick with the similar sort of players that won them the title a few months ago.

During the toss, India's newly-appointed T20I captain Shreyas Iyer praised Suryavanshi but also mentioned that the team has some excellent players who need to be backed as well.

Who Will Be India Openers For IND vs IRE 1st T20I?

With no Suryavanshi, India opening pair for this match is likely to be the same as it was during the T20 World Cup 2026. Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma are likely to open with Ishan Kishan at No. 3.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer will replace Suryakumar Yadav at the No. 4 spot. All of these are amongst the most dangerous batsmen in the world and can change the course of the game within a few overs. India will be looking forward to carry their momentum into the next T20 cycle as well.

Since the conditions are favorable for the seamers, the Men in Blue have gone with three seamers and two spin-bowling all-rounders for this match. It is also India's first 20-over game since their T20 World Cup win in March.
