Why Vaibhav Suryavanshi Is Not Picked In India Squad For Afghanistan Series?

India's squad for the upcoming series against Afghanistan has been selected with some of the major changes in squads for both the Test and the ODIs. However, a big surprise was the absence of the young teenage sensation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, from both the squads.

Despite Suryavanshi being in prime form, he wasn't considered for the Afghanistan series. The major reason behind Vaibhav Suryavanshi India squad omission is his selection for the India A tri-series, to be held in Sri Lanka.

India A will play a tri-series in Dambulla, where the other two teams are Afghanistan A and the hosts Sri Lanka A. Vaibhav is likely to open the batting in this series and if he does well, he will be close to his international selection.

If a player does well in the IPL or domestic cricket., the selectors usually draft him into the India A squad before picking for the international matches. It seems to be a pathway for Suryavanshi as well. However, it is to be noted that the youngster has already featured for India A before, in the Rising Stars Asia Cup last year.

However, there is a high competition of places which means that the talented batter needs to keep performing well consistently to find a place in the senior team.

Suryavanshi has been impressive over the last one year and has broken several records. He has been one The 15-year-old has hit the most sixes in IPL this year while playing for Rajasthan Royals, which shows his immense ability for the future.

He has already made a name for being one of the most dangerous batsmen in IPL. If he does well in the India A series, he could get a chance to be in India's squad for the two-match T20I series in Ireland.
